Robert Herman Frazier

Robert (Bob) Herman Frazier, 92 of Midland, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2026. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church.

Bob was born on September 30, 1933, in Waco, Texas, to Charles Herman Frazier and Mildred Caldwell. He and his older brother Charles (Charlie) Frazier grew up in Waco where they roamed nearby woods, fished in Lake Waco, floated on the Brazos, and had a multitude of adventures with their cousins and friends. When Charlie left to serve during WWII, Bob and his friends vowed to protect Waco from a German invasion. After graduating from Waco High, Bob attended Baylor University and graduated with a B.S. in Geology before joining the Air Force. The Air Force sent him to Tucson, Arizona, and while on vacation at the Grand Canyon, Bob met Marion Newman. Six months later, Marion and Bob were married on Easter Sunday, March 29, 1959. Following the wedding, Bob enrolled at the University of Arizona where he completed his M.S. in Geology. Upon graduation, he went to work for Getty Oil Company, and he and Marion moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where they started their family. In 1969, Bob, Marion, and their two children moved to Midland, Texas, where Bob continued to work as an exploration and production geologist for Getty, Flag-Redfern, and Leede Exploration before forming Frazier & Ray and, finally, his own company. Bob continued to be involved in the oil industry his entire life and was a longtime member of the West Texas Geological Society and The Exchange Club.

Bob and Marion raised their children, Meredith (Meredi) and Robert (Bob), along with six dogs. The Fraziers enjoyed spending summers in Ruidoso, New Mexico, and for a time, Bob and his friends raced Quarter Horses and Thoroughbreds in Ruidoso and at small tracks around west Texas. Bob even spent time as “Ol’ Dum Dum,” creating a tip sheet for Ruidoso racegoers for several summers. In addition to time spent in Ruidoso, Bob enjoyed traveling around the U.S. with family and friends, as well as a wide array of interests ranging from photography and bowling to snow skiing, wood carving, archery, wine making, and playing dominoes. Most of all, though, Bob enjoyed spending time with friends and family. He felt blessed to have them in his life, and all who knew him felt equally so.

Bob’s legacy continues through Marion, Meredi of Dallas, Texas, and Bob of Alto, New Mexico, as well as his beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Charles Herman Frazier, his mother Mildred Caldwell, and his brother Charles Frazier.
