Robert “John” Helm, 83, of San Antonio, formerly of Coahoma, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 25, 2016 in San Antonio. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, July 28, 2016 at the First Baptist Church of Coahoma with Elwin Collom and Mark Winn officiating. Interment will follow at Coahoma Cemetery.The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory.Robert was born December 18, 1932 in Haskell County, Texas and married Mary Faye Gray, November 26, 1954 in Albany, Texas.He was raised on a farm with a large family. He learned the value of hard work and family and kept those traits throughout his life. His hard work, dedication to family, mentorship, loving kindness, laughter and so many other things about him will be missed greatly.He served in the United States Army. He spent his early years farming around Roscoe and Lueders, Texas. He then worked in the oil industry and then the City of Coahoma where he was employed for over 29 years retiring as the water superintendent.He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Coahoma and thoroughly enjoyed his Boaz Sunday school class and his friends there.Robert is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Faye Helm of San Antonio; his son, Johnny Helm and daughter-in-love Khamphouy of San Antonio; one granddaughter Elizabeth Helm of San Antonio; one brother, Albert Helm of Childress; one sister, Willie Mae Helm of Arlington; and 11 nephews and one niece.He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Ella (Kasting) Helm; three brothers, Herbert Helm, Lewis Helm, and Milbert Helm; and one sister, Agnes Miller White.Pallbearers are Gary Helm, Kyle Helm, Donny Helm, Jerry Helm, Jeremy Helm, Travis Humphries, Daron Moore, and Loren Moore. Honorary Pallbearers are the men of the Boaz Sunday school class.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
