Robert Len Grimes, of Granbury, TX, passed away at the age of 67. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 10, 2022 from 5:00PM-7:00PM at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home in Midland. Memorial Service will be held on Friday, February 11, 2022 at 2:00PM at First Baptist Church Chapel in Midland.

On Sunday, February 6, 2022, our beloved husband, Dad, Gramps and friend entered into the gates of Heaven with rejoicing as he met his Savior face to face. While his departure came too soon for those of us here, we are grateful to our faithful and good God for Robert’s perfect and final healing.

Robert Len Grimes was born on August 6, 1954 to the late Ora Belle and Robert Leland Grimes, in Comanche, Texas. He graduated from Midland Lee High School in 1972. Shortly thereafter, he met the love of his life, Laura. They married not long after meeting and were nearing their 48^th wedding anniversary.

He was an amazing dad and provider for his family. He loved his children and his beautiful granddaughters with all of his heart. He wanted nothing more than the very best for his family and for the presence of God to encompass their lives.

Robert surrendered his life to Christ and attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Their ministry took them to California and later to Garden City where he was the pastor of First Baptist Church. How he loved sharing the Word of God!

Bob’s work ethic was impeccable and he took pride in anything his hands touched. From welding with Mobil Pipeline to demonstrating heavy equipment for Warren Caterpillar, Bob excelled. His hands could work iron and wood into the most beautiful pieces. And when they weren’t working, his hands provided great comfort, guidance, teaching and friendship.

He is survived by his wife, Laura, his daughter Jennifer James and husband Sam; his son Robert Grimes and wife Bobbie. He is survived by his beautiful granddaughters, Bailey Grimes and Hannah James. He also leaves behind his sister Jeanie Miller and husband Tom and sister in law Leonora Grimes. He is survived by many family members and dear friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Sonny Grimes and his great nephew Hank Apple.

We take great comfort in knowing he is at peace and standing in the light of Christ.

Robert was the man that I liked from the first time I met him. I had a lot of respect for Robert, and I always knew where he stood. I know where he is standing now, or probably on his knees, and that is at the feet of Jesus. To his family I say I love you, and may our Living Lord Jesus Christ wrap His arms around you and hold you tight.

I am a friend of Leo Grimes. Leo has a great family including Robert. His memory will live forever here on earth within those whose lives he touched including me. God bless!

I worked with Robert in the late 80's at Mobil Pipeline. I greatly enjoyed working with Robert in the maintenance dept. and remember riding with him to the field, I especially remember how excited he always was to share scripture with me and for some reason I remember him talking about his study of Deuteronomy. I have always admired and respected Robert for his Love of Christ and willingness to share about his salvation. I know he has heard these words: Mathew 25:21 Well done , my good and faithful servant. My deepest condolences to you Laura and the rest of the Grimes. Robert was a wonderful person and we ( I, Florence and Lorraine ) truly enjoyed our visit in May of last year. He made us smile and laugh, whenever we were around him. You will always be in our thoughts and prayers as well the rest of the Grimes family! RIP our friend and will see you again one day! We are sorry to hear of Robert’s passing. He was a good man and a great asset to our community when living in Garden City. May he Rest In Peace. Our condolences to Laura, Jennifer, Robbie, and families.

We will never forget how Bob was there for us when we lost our oldest son! So many texts and comforting messages, standing with our younger son at the graveside service, just being there and praying for us. Me Tommy Green and Robert Pickett have known Robert for over 45 years and all of us thought a whole lot of Robert and his love of riding motorcycles and enjoying his family . We have lost a friend but will always have the great memories of our time together. God has another angel to use I hope he lets him ride his KAWASAKI ZX-1400 in heaven that he loved riding so much, God speed Robert

When I was smaller Bob used to always take me to Texas burger after a soccer game my mom and Laura. How ever many goals I scored that’s how much scoops of ice cream I would get. It was always mint chocolate chip. Just great memories of Bob and wish I could share them all but he will be missed. My mom and I loved him so much we will say our prayers.

My love and prayers are with the family. Bob was a good man. I always enjoyed seeing him. Tks.

Laura, Jennifer, and Robbie, I am so sorry for your loss. Brother Bob was amazing. Your whole family was there for ours in some of our darkest times. And as well in some of the happiest. Brother Bob is definitely in a better place, he is no longer sick. He is with my momma in Heaven so he is in good company. I love y'all with all my heart and will keep you in my prayers.
