Robert C. Johnson

Robert C. "Bob" Johnson, 71, of Big Spring, died on Wednesday, December 12, 2007, in an Odessa hospice facility. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM Saturday, December 15, 2007, at the funeral home. He was born on July 14, 1936, in Brady, Texas and married Beverly Ann Raney on May 16, 1964 in Big Spring, Texas. Bob served in the United States Navy for 23 years, serving in California, Norfolk and Newport News, Virginia and Key West and Jacksonville, Florida. After retiring in December 1977, he returned to Big Spring and worked for Colorado River Municipal Water District, retiring in December 2001 after 23 years. He enjoyed his children, grandchildren and family life. Bob especially looked forward to Saturday nights with his friends and family playing cards and games and his daily lunches with the "Lunch Bunch". He was a Baptist. Survivors include his wife, Beverly Johnson of Big Spring; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert Allan "Rob" and Amy Johnson of Big Spring; one daughter and son-in-law, Shanette "Shay" and Doug Damaske of Flower Mound; two grandchildren, Samuel Raney Damaske and Audrey Ray Damaske both of Flower Mound; his mother, Irene Fortson Maxwell of Big Spring; one brother and sister-in-law, James L. and Linda Johnson of Melvin; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Jeannette and B. J. Holliman of Big Spring and Helen and Larry Ray of New Braunfels; 4 grandpuppies; numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his father, Pat Johnson.We love you and we will miss you, Pop Pop!The family suggests memorials be made to Hospice House Foundation, 903 North Sam Houston Ave., Odessa, Texas 79761.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
