Robert C. \Bobby\ Hill, 90, of Big Spring, passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, February 16, 2015 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Bill Ivins, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM Sunday, February 15, 2015 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.Bobby was born February 17, 1924 in the Elbow community of Howard County. He married Margie Raye Woodson November 19, 1948 in Coahoma, Texas and they had a son, Alan Robert Hill, August 15, 1954.He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He then worked for the Texas Pacific, Missouri Pacific, and Union Pacific Railroad, retiring as the General Yard Master after 43 years of service.Throughout his life, Bobby dedicated his time to the service of his Lord, his nation, his family, and his community. Bobby was a member of the First United Methodist Church and had served on the administrative board. He was also a member of Staked Plains Masonic Lodge #598 A. F. & A. M. and the Kiwanis Club. For many years Bobby served on the advisory board for the Salvation Army and as a board member and officer for the T & P Federal Credit Union. He also served as a trustee for the Heritage Museum. In 2002, Bobby was recognized by the Big Spring Chamber of Commerce as \Man of the Year\ for his dedication to the community.Survivors include his wife, Margie Hill of Big Spring; one son, Alan Robert Hill and wife, Kathy of League City; a granddaughter, Kaitlin Hill of Honolulu, Hawai‘i; one brother, Bill R. Hill and wife, Evelyn of Scottsdale, Arizona; and five sisters, Cleta R. Britton of Big Spring, Jane Farmer of Midland, Nilah Jo Smith of Odessa, Barbara Z. Duncan and husband, Bobby of Abilene, and Virginia Ziemer of Dallas.He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Nelson and Emma Mayme Choate Hill.The family suggests memorials to the First United Methodist Church Music Department, 400 Scurry St., Big Spring, Texas 79720, or to a charity of your choice.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
