Robert (Bob) Walsh, 83, of Midland, died on Monday, August 28, 2006 at the Hospice Inpatient Unit at Midland Memorial Hospital. A rosary will be held at 7:00 PM Wednesday, August 30, 2006 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Chapel in Midland. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, August 31, 2006 at the St. Ann's Catholic Church in Midland with Monsignor Larry Droll, officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.Bob was born on January 15, 1923 to William and Mamie Walsh in Chicago, Illinois. He served during World War II in the Army Air Corps Intelligence Division of a B-29 Wing. He married Dorothy Dittoe on May 2, 1946 in Wichita Falls, Texas.Bob has lived in the Midland community since 1956 and was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church. He loved to write. He was a published author, playwright and screenwriter, with his plays being performed in Midland and Odessa and his movies premiering and being produced in Texas. He was educated by The Christian Brothers in Chicago. He was a long time friend of Art Cole of the Cole Theatre.Survivors include his wife, Dottie of Midland; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Pamela and Bill A. Schaefer of Houston; three grandchildren, Mary Katherine and her husband, Paul Huston of Australia, John Daniel Schaefer of Plano and Heather Ann and her husband, Jake Sadler of Amarillo; five great grandchildren, Lauren Marie Huston, Taylor Anne Huston, Caitlin Mary Huston, Walsh Jacob Sadler and Guy Joseph Sadler; and several nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Sean Patrick Walsh, three brothers, John T. Walsh, William J. Walsh and Thomas Walsh and a sister, Rita Liddy.The family wishes to thank Drs. Carolyn and Joseph Rhode for their extraordinary and loving care during Bob's illness.The pallbearers will be Bill Schaefer, Daniel Schaefer, Roy McGuffey, Jake Sadler and John B.
