Bob Drennon, 84, of Midland, TX, passed away October 6, 2014. He was born in Dickens County, TX. Bob was a salvage diver for the Navy from 1945-1950 when he was discharged. He met a nursing student named Norma Hansen while his father was in the hospital. They married in Portales, NM. They made their home in Kermit, TX, where he was involved in many community activities. He was a member of the 20-30 club and served on the Kermit School Board.Bob had four children, Yvetta, Bobbie, Robbie and Rodney. He was an avid sports enthusiast. He was always in the bleachers at volleyball games, football games, or track meets. He was a Yellow Jacket and when he moved to Midland he was a Midland Lee fan with season tickets. He was interested in fishing and hunting. He took his family often times to Red Bluff where he and Norma taught four children how to water ski.He loved to hunt and he took his son (Rodney) and sons-in-law and other family members to hunt for pheasant in Kansas. Bob was into horse racing and could be seen at the track by friends in Ruidoso, NM. He and Norma spent six months out of the year in Ruidoso. After 35 years he retired from Snap On Tools in 1995.Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Robert A. Drennon Sr. and Edith Mullins Drennon; six sisters and three brothers.He is survived by his wife, Norma Drennon of Midland; daughter, Yvetta and Budda Barta of Kermit; daughter, Bobbie and Randy Visage of Sugarland; daughter, Robbie and Jimmy Grantham of Poteau, OK; and son, Rodney Drennon of Gardendale, TX; eight grandchildren, Matthew Barta, Yves and Lynn Hadnot, Sarah Drennon, Eric and Melissa Visage, Clay and Lacy Visage, Kathryn Yegge, Derrick Yegge, Kara and Rainy Francis; ten great-grandchildren, Matyson, Layla, Hayden, Lincoln, Reese, Ethan, Hailey, Haydon, Jax, and Abbie.Graveside services will be on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at 2:00PM at the Kermit Cemetery in Kermit, TX.You are invited to attend a Celebration of Bob Drennon’s life at the American Legion in Midland, TX, on Saturday, October 25, 2014 from 2:00-5:00PM. The American Legion is located at 501 Veteran Airport Lane near the Clay Desta BLDG.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to American Heart Association-Southwestern Division, PO Box 841125, Dallas, TX 75284-1125 or to a charity of your choice.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
