I was Blessed to get to know Rob Junell as a Friend because Vic and Cathy Choate took the time to introduce me to Rob and Beverly back in 1979. Anything Rob did was done well. He worked hard at whatever he did and he always did things with the wonderful sense of humor that he shared with everyone. Rob always made decisions on “what was the right thing to do” and when he was committed to making something happen, it usually happened. Rob’s smile and laugh were infectious ….. he just made you feel good ….. whether it was work-related or just having a laugh with friends. I’m Blessed I got to work and be friends with Rob Junell ….. thanks to Vic and Cathy Choate !! Wayne T Franke

Rob was an amazing individual with so many achievements. When Dr. Jane Rider and I decided that Texas should make full-day kindergarten available to all of Texas’ children Rob served as our guide and supporter and made it happen. I remain ever so grateful. San Angelo was fortunate to have him as a leader
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

My sincere sympathy to Rob's family. I was proud to call him my friend and colleague in the Texas Legislature. Rob served his State and his Country well, leaving both in better shape than when he arrived. I will miss his laugh, his friendship and his counsel. Allen Place

My brother introduced me to Judge Junell shortly after I moved to Texas in 2014. I immediately liked the man, and was pleased when he would greet me in church, or occasionally invite me to join discussions. His warmth, obvious compassion, firm beliefs, and ability to tolerate others impressed me. I missed him when I moved from Midland, and miss him still. To the family, associates, friends, who had the privilege and pleasure of knowing him better and longer than I did, my deepest condolences.

I met Robert at JT Hutchinson where we played football. He was a tremendous competitor and first class individual. I am fortunate to have renewed friendship with him when he became a legislator where he continued to impress all who came in contact. His legal ability and knowledge was exceeded only by his personal charisma and loyalty to his family. He will be missed.
Tom Woods left a message on November 4, 2025:
I once asked Rob why he didn’t’ convert to Republican since he was so conservative and his reply was he always voted for his constituents and it didn’t matter if he had a “D” or “R” behind his name. He embodied what a Legislator should be! Well done Rob!
Judge Jerry E. Smith left a message on November 3, 2025:
Robert Junell was my dear and trusted friend and neighbor in Lubbock at Wheelock Elementary School, J.T. Hutchinson Junior High, and Monterey High School. It was quite a coincidence that we both ended up as federal judges, by different paths. We had lots of good times together. He was an exemplary Texan and a fine judge. I will surely miss him.
