Ricky Lee Hughes, 62, of Big Spring, died Sunday, March 12, 2017 in a Ft. Worth hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, March 16, 2017 at 14th and Main Church of Christ with Rick Cunningham and Clark Tatum officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. He was born October 10, 1954 in Big Spring, Texas and married Leah Hughes June 10, 1973. Ricky was a lifetime resident of Howard County and graduated from Sands High School in 1973. He was active in rodeo as a bull rider. He farmed in the Knott community over 25 years and owned Mr. Scrubbs Car Wash. Ricky enjoyed his time as a coach in the National League Baseball league. He also enjoyed hunting, golf, playing dominoes and all outdoor activities. He loved supporting his kids in their sporting events and any type of family activity, especially if it included eating. Survivors include his wife, Leah Hughes of Big spring; one son, Wes Hughes and wife, Hailey of Stanton; one daughter, Kara Crenshaw and husband, Bucky of Big Spring; his mother, Joe Hughes of Ackerly; one sister, Connie Zant and husband, David of Ackerly; five grandchildren, Colten Hughes, Brock Hughes, Londyn Hughes, Hannah Crenshaw and Hudson Crenshaw; four nieces and nephews, Jerrod Beall, Stuart Beall, Cal Zant and Hollie Epperson; and numerous cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Calvin \Bud\ Hughes; and his grandparents, Henry and Inez Sample, Alvie Hughes and Audie Hatten.
