Ricky Alfred Phillips

Ricky Alfred Phillips was born in Pampa, Texas March 16,1946. He passed away peacefully at home following a lengthy illness Saturday, August 22, 2026.  He is the son of Laura Mae Matthews and Ralph Alfred Phillips.   Rick grew up in Littlefield, Texas and graduated from Littlefield High School in 1964. In High School Rick was active in sports, playing both football and baseball.  He also played the clarinet in band, sometimes playing both football and marching in the band at half time.  Early in life Rick was coached in football, baseball, hunting and fishing by his beloved stepfather, Bob Falk who was a semi pro baseball player for the Lamesa Lobos.  Rick completed a bachelor’s degree in business and accounting from Texas Tech University. He completed his CPA certification and began his professional career in the oil and gas industry which ultimately spanned a 40-year career and international travel. He began investigative accounting and fraud later in his career and enjoyed working with the Texas Rangers. Rick worked and lived in Jakarta Indonesia, Mumbai, India and Singapore. In retirement he consulted for Mediterranean Resources in Rome, Italy. Rick maintained high professional standards and ethics both professionally and personally throughout his life.   Rick’s autobiography, published on Amazon, details his personal and professional life experiences and adventures.

Rick’s Christian faith was the foundation of his personal and professional life.

Rick’s nickname was “the moose’.  The moose was loved for his outgoing fun-loving personality, his love for adventure and challenge and deep sense of justice. He loved his wife, daughters, and grandchildren “to the moon and back”.

Rick is preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Robin Falk Neil.

Rick is survived by his wife Mary Helen Phillips, daughters Vandi Theriot and husband Jason, Dawn Phillips, stepdaughters Courtney Meadows and husband Joel, Megan Brignon and husband Nate and niece, Ashley Neil; grandchildren include Braden Theriot, Zachary Theriot, Dailyn Morgan, Ruby Morgan, Maisie McGurr, Ben Brignon, Sam Brignon, and Julia Meadows.

A celebration of life service will be held in the chapel at First Presbyterian Church of Midland located at 800 W Texas Ave, Saturday, August 29, 2026 at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Midland or Hospice of Midland.
