Richard Madrid, 82, of Midland, passed away on Friday, January 19, 2018 surrounded byhis family. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.Richard was born on September 11, 1935 to Flora and Francisco Madrid in El Mulato,Chihuahua Mexico.He was the oldest of 12 children. In his early childhood his family moved to StantonTexas where they farmed for many years. In 1964 Richard married Connie Garcia andmoved to Midland Texas to raise their family. He was an active member of St. Joseph’sand Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic church. Richard was heavily involved in the CursilloMovement and Marriage Encounter. While raising his family he was active in EasternLittle League baseball as president of the league for 17 years. He was staff manager forAmerican National Insurance Company for 15 years and later worked in Odessa for CitiesService/Oxy USA for the next 20 years until his retirement. He enjoyed singing, cooking,reading, puzzles, tinkering around the house, gardening and watching the DallasCowboys. After retiring he and his wife enjoyed traveling and seeing their children andgrandchildren. He was a hardworking man who was dedicated to his family, his catholicfaith, and his community.He is survived by his wife, Connie Madrid; children, Elouise Cobos and husband Gilbertof Bryan; Alex Madrid and wife Helen of Midland; Chris Brown of Huntsville; Andy Madridand wife Patsy of Midland; Rick Madrid and wife Laura of McKinney; Kathy Bingham andhusband Joe of Lubbock; Jake Madrid and wife Jennifer of Frisco; James Madrid andwife Jodi of Houston; and numerous grandchildren and their spouses, greatgrandchildren, great great grandchildren, and 8 brothers and sisters. He also leavesbehind his beloved German Shepherd, Max.He is preceded in death by his son, Jerold Madrid, 2 brothers, 1 sister, and his parents.Pallbearers will be Gerald Cobos, Adam Cobos, Jeff Madrid, Nikkos Madrid, CathyGranville, Julia Madrid, and Tres Madrid. Honorary pallbearer, Natalee Madrid.The family of Richard Madrid wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at RockwoodManor and Hospice of Midland for their support in his final days.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home &Crematory of Midland.
