Reverend Jerry D. McGuire, 67, of Belton, Texas, passed away on Monday, May 22, 2017, in a Midland, Texas hospital.A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at 2:00 p.m., at First Church of the Nazarene, 1400 Lancaster, Big Spring, Texas. Another Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Belton Church of the Nazarene, 1701 Sparta Rd, Belton, Texas.Jerry was born in Hale Center, Texas on April 1, 1950, to Dell and Evelyn McGuire.He graduated from Big Spring High School, Big Spring, Texas, in 1968 and then attended Southern Nazarene University located in Bethany, Oklahoma, and obtained a Bachelor’s of Science Degree with a Major in Physics in 1977. While attending Southern Nazarene University he met the love of his life, Clare Sale of Cozad, Nebraska, and they were married in December of 1969.Other than his marriage to Clare, some of the most joyous moments of his life were the birth of his son, Paul, in 1971, the birth of his daughter, Malana, in 1974, and most recently, the birth of his one and only granddaughter, Kaitlin Clare, in 2015.Jerry served 2 years in the United States Air Force before going into the ministry.He obtained his Ministerial Ordination by the Church of the Nazarene in 2001. He served in many ministry capacities: Youth Pastor, Minister of Music, and Associate Pastor, before serving as a Senior Pastor in Odessa, Texas; Midland, Texas; Lawton, Oklahoma and then Belton, Texas before retiring in 2015. Also, while serving in the ministry he taught ministerial courses, held special revival services, and supply pastored at many locations.After receiving his Texas Teacher’s Certification he taught classes and coached in Midland, Odessa, and Big Spring, Texas. He also held a teaching position in Killeen, Texas for several years. He retired from the Texas Educational System in 2011.He is survived by his wife Clare McGuire of Belton, Texas, his son Paul McGuire of Midland, Texas, his daughter Malana Miller and granddaughter Kaitlin Miller of Temple, Texas, his father Dell McGuire of Midland, Texas, brother and sister-in-law, Gordon and Pam McGuire of Lompoc, California, sister and brother-in-law, DiAnn and David Fowler of Midland, Texas, and numerous extended family members.He was preceded in death by his mother Evelyn McGuire.Throughout his life, Jerry touched many lives with the love of Christ. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privileged to know him.The family is requesting that in lieu of flowers that donations be sent as a “Jerry McGuire Memorial for the Building Fund” to Belton Church of the Nazarene, P.O.
