Peg and girls, I was so sad to learn that Herb is no longer with us. I was there when he surrendered to preach at North Hills church and heard him preach and sing. Spent many hours and nights at your home while James was overseas and will never forget any of you. I think of you often and wish I could see you all again. Last time I saw Herb, he came up to me at Jims grocery, put his arm aroiund my shoulder and with his beard I hardly recognized him. What a thrill to have seen him again but missed seeing you Peg, for some reason. I have wondered where you guys were and tried to get an address in Wichita Falls but was unsuccessful. God bless you both for what you have meant to me.. Please accept my sympathy and my love. Betty Abernathy Email me is you use a computer.. Love you

Herb married David and I at the Northwest Baptist Church in Wichita Falls, Texas almost 17 years ago. He made sure that we knew what we were getting into and that it would be a christian marriage. He baptisted us also at NW. I was afraid of the water and I had no fear when I joined him in the water. We loved to hear him sing and say "oh dearly beloved."When we went to hear him speak, he was so happy to see us and had to catch up on the news of our lives. We are saddened to hear of your loss, but know he is in a better place.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

I was sorry to learn about Brother Smith. He was an encourager for me years ago when I needed someone "in my corner." He thought I would come through difficult times and be stronger for it. He was right. I am sure there are many people who can say the same thing today. I am praying for your family as you grieve your loss.

Peg and family, Our prayers and thoughts are with you today.Bro.Herb will be greatly missed. It was at Eastside Baptist in Vernon,Tx. 1959 where Don and I met Bro.Herb and Peg. In 1960 he married us .We had the great honor to serve our Lord under Bro. Herb 's ministry in Vernon and at Calvery Baptist in Wichita Falls. He was a great preacher and pastor and had a wonderful singing voice. We learned a lot from his teaching and preaching. Love,Don & Carolyn Hughes

We are sadden to hear of your great loss but are happy for Bro. Smith that he is home with our Lord and experiencing the ultimate healing and joy. We love Bro. Smith and Sis. Peg. It was under his preaching, teaching, and pastoring that we were grounded in the faith. We will always remember all that he has taught us and never forget him. He was the best! May God give Peg and the rest of the family comfort and until we are all together in Heaven, God bless you! Dave and Lori Rymer Sardinia, OH
