It is with heavy hearts that we announce the loss of Rayford Glenn Harrison, who passed on April 27th at the age of 74. Funeral services will be held at 10am, Monday, May 2, 2016 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The family will receive friends from 2pm-4pm Sunday, May 1, 2016 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.Rayford was born in Big Spring, Texas in 1941 to Alvie and Dollie Harrison who preceded him in death. He lived most of his life in Big Spring. Professionally, he was a construction supervisor whose true talent and passion was restoring life to old buildings. Some of his projects included, Big Spring Fire Station #1 and training tower, Western Container, Hangar 25, the District Court building, and the McConnell house in Stanton, Texas.Rayford also served in his church valiantly and faithfully for over 48 years. In his personal life, he never fit neatly into one category. There was none big enough to hold him. He was a loving husband, provider and protector to his wife. He was a giant among men to his sons. He was a hero to his daughters. He was a legend to his grandchildren. He was a strength to his friends. He was an all-around great man and it was an honor to have known and loved him in this life.Rayford is mourned by his wife of 54 years and eternal love, Janie, seven children: Phillip Harrison, Lila and James King, Melissa and Dan Vernon, Wesley and Jena Harrison, Heath and Stephanie Harrison, Sarah and Justin Little, Micah and Heidi Harrison, and 17 grandchildren. We are greatly comforted by the knowledge of a loving Savior, Jesus Christ and in knowing that families can be together forever. We will meet again, joyfully, on the other side.Memorials can be sent to The Salvation Army, 511 W. 6th Street, Big Spring, Texas 79720Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
