Randy L. Therwhanger, born on January 23, 1953, in Knox City, Texas, was greeted with open arms by our heavenly Father. A viewing will be held 2:00pm-5:00pm, Sunday, September 1, 2024 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home in Midland. A Graveside Service will take place 2:00pm, Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at Johnson Memorial Cemetery in Munday, Texas.
Randy was the beloved son of Billy and Joyce Therwhanger.
After graduating from high school, Randy served in the army for four years and was honorably discharged in 1979. He utilized his GI Bill benefits for his education and graduated from North Texas State University in 1980 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.
Randy dedicated 41 years of his life to serving at the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), where he made significant contributions to the organization.
Randy enjoyed non-fictional stories and shows, as well as westerns. His favorite show was the Twilight Zone. He found solace on his back porch with his Corona Lights in his ice chest. He cherished trips to Ruidoso and dining out with his family. Before the passing of his mother, Randy and his children enjoyed having their Nana for weekends. Special memories were created when Randy and his children visited his father in Llano.
Randy will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his service to his country, his long and impactful career at the IRS, his selfless nature, his love for storytelling and westerns, and the special memories he created with his loved ones. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Randy was a very selfless person who would help others in any way he could. He had a deep love for his family and is survived by his daughter Chelsie and husband Ryan from California, his son Brannon and wife Anita from Midland. His five grandchildren: Julianna, Sierra, Ian, Evan and Lilian. Two brothers: Terry and wife Teresa from Lamesa, Lindy and Jennifer are from Lake Ivy, Randy is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
