Ramiro R. Garza, age 96 of St. Lawrence, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, November 9, 2021. Funeral services will be 10:00am Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Interment will follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery.
Viewing will be held on Monday, November 15, 2021 from 11:00am to 9:00pm, with Rosary beginning at 7:00pm at St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
He was born in Morelos, Coahuila Mexico on June 27, 1925 to parents Juan Estevan Garza and Catarina (Rodriguez) Garza. He married the love of his life Lilia Zuniga on April 25th 1950 in Morelos, Coahuila Mexico, where they raised their family.
He later came to the United States in early 1950’s and made a home in St. Lawrence, Texas. He was a hardworking farmer that loved his family dearly. Ramiro enjoyed doing cookouts, dancing, and playing his harmonica. He made it a point to call early in the day on each of his family’s birthdays and play “Las Mañanitas.”
Survivors include his children: Rosalinda Moreno and husband Robert, Julia Garza Rosas and husband Frank Rosas, Blanca Guerrero and husband Roberto, Juan Garza, Ramiro Garza, Jr. and wife Rosa, Jose Garza and wife Bertha, Lucila Trevino and husband Pedro; sister, Gertrudes Garza Valdez; 21 grandchildren; 57 great grandchildren; and 9 great great grandchildren; and countless nieces, nephews, God sons and God daughters.
He always made sure you didn’t leave his house without having a full stomach.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lilia (Zuniga) Garza; parents, Juan and Catarina Garza; twin infant sons, Jose and Jesus; 5 brothers, and one sister.
