On November 3rd, 2022, our beloved father, friend, and mentor, Ramesh J. Patel, embarked on his final journey after a brief illness. His purified soul now rests peacefully with Bhagwan Swaminarayan in Akshardham.
His was a long, exemplary, and upright life of a man of principles and integrity. He made friends easily, always saw the best in people, and in return, was loved by all who knew him.
Born in Kenya on May 9, 1926, he was one of eight siblings. His early schooling was in Kenya and India. His college education was in Mumbai, India where he met the love of his life, Neela, his wife of 67 years. They moved to Midland from Kenya in 1986 to be with family. Their extended family was the Indian Community of West Texas, which fondly remembers them as “Uncle” and “Aunty”. He was Dr. Raj Patel’s office manager until he retired at age 90 and was the bedrock of the practice. In this role, he developed and nurtured numerous contacts and friendships.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Neela, and siblings Madhubhai and Shardaben. He is survived by his son Dr. Raj Patel (Hansa); daughter Nayna (Rashmikant); grandchildren Shalin, Neel, Shreena (Bhaveen); great grandchildren Dhilan, Deven, Dhru; siblings Rama, Praful, Chandra, Anila and Mahesh; many nieces, nephews, and their families.
We wish to express our gratitude to his physicians Dr. Vadyala, Dr. Gillala, Dr. PK Patel, Dr. PJ Patel, Dr. Deme, and Dr. Shah. We are humbled by the outpouring of love from far and wide and by the impact he has had on so many. He will live on in our collective memory.
