R. T. Johnson, 85, of Big Spring, died on Wednesday, August 27, 2008, in a local hospital. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at New Hope Cemetery in Jones County.The family will receive friends from 6 PM to 7 PM Monday at the funeral home.He was born on August 6, 1923, in Beckville, Texas and married Fay C. Cole on June 11, 1943 in Stamford, Texas. She preceded him in death on October 24, 1988.He was a long time resident of Big Spring and had worked as a truck driver for McMahon Concrete for 17 years. He was a Baptist.Survivors include one son, Michael Johnson of Big Spring; one daughter, Linda Brooks of Plainview; two brothers, Morgan Johnson of Stamford and Robert Johnson of Abilene; and four grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Vernon Johnson and Willie "Bill" Johnson. Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring. Neva and I will alway's look up, from whatever we are doing outside, and have memories of 'R.T.' driving around the corner, and him alway's having the time, to stop for a short visit. He had a 'kind heart/gentle voice, and respect for my wife and I. He will be missed, as all good people are.
