R. E. Gregory, 90, of Big Spring, died on Sunday, October 12, 2008, in a local hospital. No services are planned.He was born on May 13, 1918, in Rule, Texas and married Edith Powers in November 1933 in Eastland, Texas. She preceded him in death on September 19, 2008.Mr. Gregory and his late wife came to Big Spring in 1941. He started working for Texas and Pacific in 1942 as a brakeman and was a senior conductor when he retired after thirty years from Missouri and Pacific. He was a member of Staked Plains Lodge #598 A.F. & A.M. and had served as local chairman for The Brotherhood of Locomotive Trainsmen.Survivors include one son, Richard Gregory of Odessa; one daughter, Edith Carleson of Krum; seven grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren.He was preceded also in death by one son, Royce Gregory in November of 2007 and one grandson, Gregory Dean Carleson, on April 14, 1985.
