Polly Nichols, 85, of Stanton, died on Monday, May 17, 2004, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, May 20, 2004 at the First United Methodist Church of Stanton with Rev. Gene Weinette, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Stanton. She was born on June 3, 1918, in Freestone, Texas and married Elma Ray Nichols on November 15, 1937 in Martin County, Texas. He preceded her in death on April 18, 1993.Polly lived in Martin County since 1924. She graduated from Courtney High School in 1937. Her life was devoted to her husband and children. She was an avid reader and enjoyed working crossword puzzles. Polly was a member of the First United Methodist Church for over 50 years where she was a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class for many, many years. Survivors include her three daughters and one son-in-law, Jan and Rick Strube of Ft. Worth, Lynda Nichols of Dallas and Carol Nichols of Stanton; her son, Randy Nichols of Lubbock; her brother, Jack Watson of San Angelo; seven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. She was also preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers. The family suggests memorials be made to the donors favorite charity.
