Phyllis “Phyl” Loraine Getz

August 13, 1927 – January 6, 2024

Phyllis Loraine Getz, 96, of Midland, Texas, passed away at her home on January 6, 2024.

Phyl was born on August 13, 1927, in Florence, Kansas to the late Mabel and Hans Jensen.  She graduated from Emporia High School in 1945.  She married her high school sweetheart, Walter Hughes Getz, on June 19, 1948.  Phyl was a homemaker while her children were young.  She then went to work as a realtor for Mary Ann Carr, and later worked as a secretary for Texas Oil and Gas for several years.

Phyl was most happy in her role as a wife and mother.  She enjoyed traveling, her Bridge group, sewing, gardening, cooking, and doting on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She will be greatly missed by all her family.

Phyl was preceded in death by her husband, Walter “Bud” Getz; sister, Geraldine “Jerre” DeMott; and grandson Jensen Getz.  She is survived by her sister Jacque LeVieux of Eureka Kansas; daughter, Kim and her husband, Larry Burns of Midland, Texas; son, Michael and wife, Jeri Lin Getz of Midland, Texas; grandchildren Ashley Burns Freeman, Jared Getz, Colby Burns and Jory Getz; and great-grandchildren Rivers Getz, Walter Burns, Elizabeth Burns, Peyton Freeman, Jackson Freeman and Greyson Freeman.

A private memorial service was held by the family.
