Perkins Brasher, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on March 26, 2025. Although he was in remission from bone marrow cancer following a successful stem cell transplant at MD Anderson, complications from the chemotherapy ultimately led to his passing. He fought bravely for five years, facing every challenge with relentless determination. He was 74. His wife, Denise, cared for him with exceptional devotion throughout his illness, showing unwavering love, hope, support, and strength during his most difficult days.
Born on May 19, 1950, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Frieda and Clarence Brasher, Perkins lived a life defined by generosity, service, and a genuine concern for others. He listened with such intention and empathy that people felt truly known and understood in his presence. His trustworthiness, loyalty, and kindness touched countless lives. A devout Catholic, he served as an altar boy at Queen of Heaven in Albuquerque, NM, in his youth and carried his faith throughout his life.
A graduate of Del Norte High School in 1968, Perkins was a standout athlete, excelling as the star of the football and track teams. He ran the 440-yard dash and the mile relay, competing on the first track team at New Mexico Junior College, where he met his future wife, Denise. He later graduated from the University of New Mexico and began his career as a mud engineer, which sparked a lifelong passion for solving complex problems and revealed his instinctive ability to learn and problem-solve independently. This laid the groundwork for a remarkable career, where he built a legacy of integrity and expertise. He owned D&A Equipment and Brasher Mud, Inc., worked in asbestos abatement, and later served as Business Manager at St. Ann’s Catholic Church for over 20 years. As the owner of Advanced Home Inspections, Perkins earned the respect of realtors and homeowners alike for his thoroughness, knowledge, and ability to guide buyers through complex repairs with patience and care. He was also a generous mentor to many, always willing to share his experience and wisdom to help others grow. A skilled problem-solver, he could fix anything—from electrical and plumbing issues to offering wise counsel on life’s challenges.
Above all, Perkins was a family man. He shared 53 and a half beautiful years with his wife, Denise, enjoying morning and evening coffee on the patio every day. He cherished time with his children—playing golf with his daughter Amy, fishing with his son Michael, and spending quality time and conversations at breakfast with his daughter, Ashley. Perkins was a devoted grandfather to Dylan, Landon, Ellie, Connor, Kayden, and Colson, and a constant presence for his large and loving family.
He also had a deeply close bond with his siblings, a connection that remained strong throughout his life. One of his greatest joys was their weekly Zoom calls, which brought all eight siblings together no matter the distance. These treasured conversations continued until just a day before his passing.
Perkins is survived by his wife, Denise; his children, Amy, Ashley, and Michael; his daughter-in-law, Rachel; his six grandchildren; and a wide circle of family and friends who will forever remember his warmth and encouragement. He is also survived by his siblings: Father John Brasher; Linda Hardy; Marie and Don Robertson; his twin brother, Michael, and his wife, Jorja Brasher; Paul Brasher; David and his wife, Debbie Brasher; Carl and his wife, Lucille Brasher; and Lance Brasher. His extended family includes in-laws Debbie and Barry Antweil, Becca and Oliver Maxwell, Erin Dean, Kelly and Gary McDaniel, and Allison and David Eyler. He also had several nieces and nephews who adored him.
Perkins Brasher was a source of inspiration, a rock for those in need, and a light to all who knew him. His legacy of love and service will live on in the hearts of many.
