Peggy Ruth Bradley Stacy Shutts was born on September 4, 1930 in Guthrie, OK to Aubry L. and Pauline Wood Bradley.When she was two years old her parents divorced and she and her mother moved to Pratt, KS.Her mother married Carmi E. Stacy and they moved to Colby, KS. When she was 8 years old. She adopted the name of her step-father and was known as Peggy Stacy from that time forward.Due to the employment of her step-father with the United States Department of Agriculture the family moved several times. They lived in Huthinson, Scott City, Wichita, Burlington and finally moving to Hays in 1945.James O. Shutts and Peggy Stacy were married in Hays, KS on February 6, 1948.They lived in many different towns but in each one she met and made many friends that she would have never had the privilege of knowing had they not moved there.In each town she was employed. In Gillette, WY. She worked in the Collection Department of the Credit Bureau. When they lived in Kimball, NE. she first worked at Safeway, then at Tri State Co-op in bookkeeping and in Sterling, Co. she worked for and retired from Commercial Bank of Sterling.Her biggest joy in life was her family and her friends. When she and Jim retired, Jim asked her where she wanted to live and she chose Hays, KS, where she went to high school and where her friends of many years lived.She was an avid reader and loved playing cards of any kind. She loved meeting new people and always enjoyed moving to a new town and making friends. More than anything she like to travel. Jim would laugh at her when on the way home from a trip she would talk about where they should go next.She was a member of the Methodist church in Midland, TX.She is survived by her children, James O. Shutts, Jr. of Midland, TX. and his wife Rhonda Shutts, Kathy Weatherman and her husband, of Sylvan Grove, KS., Mike Weatherman and Richard A. Shutts and his wife Betty Shutts of Alpine, CA. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 3 step grandchildren.She and Jim moved to Midland, TX on January 2008 the resided at Manor Park until their time of death. Jim died March 9, 2011.Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Parks-Faudree Family Chapel at Manor Park in Midland.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory.
