Peggy June Dyche Wiseman

Peggy June Dyche Wiseman, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2025, in Midland, Texas. She was 92 years old.

Born on May 17, 1933, in Marfa, Texas, Peggy was the daughter of Alma and Kermit Dyche. She was raised in Fort Stockton, Texas, and graduated from Fort Stockton High School in 1951. It was during her time as a cheerleader and TCU sweetheart at Texas Christian University that she met the love of her life, Gorman Lynn Wiseman. They married on August 7, 1954, at First Presbyterian Church in Fort Stockton, beginning a loving marriage that spanned over 70 years.

Peggy and Gorman began their life together in Germany while Gorman served in the U.S. Army. After his service, they settled in Texas, where they raised their three children: Gary, Douglas, and Dianna. A devoted wife and mother, Peggy was an active and dedicated member of her community. Three generations of local students knew her as their librarian at Comanche Elementary School from 1965 to 1997. She supported Gorman in his many business ventures, including a commodities storage business, the Wiseman’s Best Egg Farm, and a ten-year career in real estate.

Peggy’s faith was a central part of her life.  Her devotion to God and her church community was steady and heartfelt, and she lived her faith with kindness, humility, and joy. She and Gorman were deeply involved with the First Presbyterian Church in Fort Stockton, where her beaming face could be seen from the choir every Sunday. She was also a constant presence at her children’s school and church activities, supporting them and their friends as a Girl Scout troop leader, fan, and youth chaperone. Her commitment to her family and community was unwavering.

She was always up for something new, an adventurer at heart with a curious mind. From learning to ski and planning her next trip to Hawaii or around the world, to diving into developing small businesses, and even day trading, she was never afraid to try something different. She taught herself Spanish by watching telenovelas, kept African violets thriving, and embraced computers and the internet before most of us knew what a modem was. Whether it was a side gig or a new hobby, she jumped in with both feet and a big smile.

Later in life, Peggy and Gorman moved to Denton, where they became active members of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church and its bereavement ministry. They eventually moved to Midland and resided at Polo Park Estates and, most recently, at Manor Park. The family wants to express their deep gratitude to the Manor Park staff who loved and cared for Peggy for the last 5 years.

Peggy is reunited in death with her husband, Gorman, who passed away in November 2024. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Alma and Kermit Dyche, and her sister, Luann Dyche Watson.

Her loving children survive Peggy: son Gary Wiseman (Earl) of Kailua, HI; son Douglas “Dubby” Wiseman (Pam) of Midland, TX; and daughter Dianna Pratt (Devin) of Tel Aviv, Israel. She also leaves behind four cherished grandchildren, Dagan Pratt (Devin Rose), Kalli Martin (Ben), Cutter Wiseman (Alyssa), and Dominique Pratt (Andy), and seven great-grandchildren.

A Witness to the Resurrection to celebrate Peggy’s life will be held on Monday, August 18, at 11 AM at the First Presbyterian Church in Fort Stockton, Texas. Instead of flowers, the family suggests donations to First Presbyterian Church or a charity of your choice.
