Peggy Joyce Martin Limbacher, lovingly known as Nana, went to her eternal home with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 6, 2025, in San Angelo, Texas. She was 82 years old.
Born on June 13, 1943, in Albany, Texas, Peggy was the cherished daughter of Billie and Joseph E. Martin. She grew up alongside her brother, Jack Martin. Peggy later moved to Arizona to attend Grand Canyon College, where she met the love of her life, James L. Limbacher. They were married on February 28, 1964, in Elroy, Arizona, and shared 59 beautiful years together.
Throughout their marriage, Peggy and Jim lived across the Southwest while raising their children, calling Phoenix and Tucson, Arizona; Salt Lake City, Utah; Thousand Oaks, California; Tulsa, Oklahoma; Houston, Texas; and finally, Midland, Texas, home. In Midland, they became active members of Bellview Baptist Church, where Peggy found joy in singing with the choir and the Singing Women of Texas.
Peggy was a woman of many talents and passions. She had a deep love for the arts, especially needlepoint, quilting, photography, and carding. Her kind, caring, and nurturing spirit touched everyone she met. After her children left home, Peggy found fulfillment driving a special education school bus, where she formed meaningful connections with the children she transported.
Peggy was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jim Limbacher, and her brother Jack. She leaves behind a legacy of love and family, survived by her children: Jon Limbacher and wife Amy of Austin, Texas; Jeff Limbacher and wife Rikki of Midland, Texas; and Jennifer Therwhanger and husband Lindy of San Angelo, Texas. Her grandchildren—Lauren Goldsmith, Megan Therwhanger, Matthew Jordan and wife Courtney, and Bryce Limbacher—were the light of her life, as were her great-grandchildren: Briley Goldsmith, Trinity Jordan, and Madison Jordan.
Friends are invited to visit with the family on Friday, September 12, 2025, from 5-7 p.m. at Nalley Pickle & Welch Funeral Home in Midland. A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Bellview Baptist Church in Midland with Manuel Arrellano officiating. A burial will immediately follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
Honoring Peggy by serving as pallbearers are Jon Limbacher, Jeff Limbacher, Matthew Jordan, Lindy Therwhanger, Terry Therwhanger, Bob Merritt, Craig Stewart, and Phil Stroud.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Midland Children’s Rehabilitation Center, an organization supporting a cause Peggy was passionate about.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude for the compassionate and loving care Regency House and Gentiva Hospice, both of San Angelo, provided our mother in her last year of life. They offered more smiles than tears on this journey. We are deeply grateful to her Bellview Baptist church family, who lifted us in prayer and sent many encouraging cards to brighten her day.
Peggy often said to her friends, “Your friendship is, to me, a blessing straight from the hand of God.” Her life was a testament to that sentiment, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory in Midland. Online condolences may be made at www.npwelch.com.
