On Tuesday, December 17, 2013, beloved wife, mother and “Granny” passed away in Midland, Texas. Peggy Jo Thompson, 80, was born to the late Elmer and Ethel Sparkman on March 17, 1933. She married Jess Thompson and was blessed with four daughters. She is preceded in death by her parents, along with brothers James and Amon Sparkman and daughters Debi Myers and Donna Lemons. She is survived by husband, Jess Thompson, daughters Cindy Newton and Elaine Newman, grandchildren, Monica Marlowe, Gary Strickland, Shanna Fougerousse, Stephanie Kelly, Jessica Meloni, Tim Newton, Dawn Myers, David Newton, Amanda Lemons, Joshua Lemons, Len Newman and numerous great-grandchildren. She was a graduate of Slaton High School and attended Texas Tech University. Upon moving to Midland, her and her husband owned A-1 Business Service, A-1 Employment Service, Thompson Office Supply, Thompson Flower Shop, Bingo Barn and the Midtowner Deli. She enjoyed spending her time with her husband square dancing, playing bingo and trips to Las Vegas. The family wishes to express their most sincere appreciation to the nurses and caregivers on the 6th floor of Midland Memorial Hospital. Memorial services will be held Friday, December 20th, 2013 at 1:00 pm at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel in Midland.
