Paul Smith

Paul Smith, 79, of Midland, died on Wednesday, November 18, 2009, in a local nursing home. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, November 30, 2009 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Dyer, pastor, officiating.He was born on April 20, 1930, in Pecos and married Wilda Bowles on November 19, 1983 in Midland.Paul was a loving & devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved working at First Baptist Church and was an avid choir member. He enjoyed caring for and driving the buses and was very involved in the mission trips to Mexico. He was a member of the Red Cross and drove the disaster trucks. Paul was passionate about helping people and serving his Lord, Jesus Christ and was a member of First Baptist Church.Survivors include his wife, Wilda Smith of Midland; three daughters, Kim Finke and husband John of Midland, Karen Cooley and husband Jim of Elko, Nevada, and Beverly Smith of San Francisco, California; nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; one sister, Doris Tims of El Paso; and a brother Jimmy Smith and wife Barbara of Houston.Paul was preceded in death by his parents, his brother; T.J. Smith and four sisters, Frankie Smith, Maxine Wickson, Viola Gilchrest, and Jacqueline Smith. The Family suggests memorials be made to the First Baptist Church Missions Fund, 2104 W.
