Paul F. Soldan, Sr., 85, of Big Spring, died on Friday, August 19, 2005, at his residence. Memorial services will be held at 4:30 PM Tuesday, August 23, 2005 at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Matt Miles, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.The family will receive friends from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM Monday at 124 Jonesboro Road.He was born on November 20, 1919, in Chester, Nebraska and married Frances Wauneta Allsman on September 22, 1940 in Chester, Nebraska. She preceded him in death on March 1, 1982.Paul had lived in Big Spring since 1940 and had worked for Fina Oil & Chemical for 42 years. He had worked as unit operator, safety supervisor and as the warehouse and materials manager.He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder and sang in the choir. Paul was a member of the Cosden 25 Year Club and was past president of the International Union of Operating Engineers. He had served in the United States Army during World War II.He was a member of the Chester, Nebraska football team, which was the first 6 man football team organized in the United States. He was also an active participant in basketball, baseball and softball during the majority of his life.Paul was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend and faithfully attended all of his grandchildren's activities. He was an avid golfer and golfed in any kind of weather.Survivors include a son, Paul F. Soldan, Jr. of Big Spring; two daughters, Kathleen Tedesco of Midland and Christine Boling and husband, Don of Big Spring; seven grandchildren, Rachel Tedesco of Odessa, D. J. Tedesco of Canoga Park, California, Rebekah Currier of Grand Prairie, Louis Soldan of Georgetown, Cori Soldan of Goldsmith, Brandon Boling and Charlie Boling both of Big Spring and two great grandsons, Luke Anthony Soldan of Goldsmith and Trenton Lane Soldan of Center Point. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one brother and three sisters. The family suggests memorials be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 701 Runnels, Big Spring, Texas 79720; to the American Heart Association, 3205 W. Cuthbert, Ste A-5, Midland, Texas 79701; to the American Cancer Society, %Lucy Bonner, P.O. Box 2121, Big Spring, Texas 79721-2121 or to the Texas Kidney Foundation, 1525 W.
