Paul Chester, 63, of Midland, passed away on Monday, February 7, 2011, at Midland Memorial Hospital. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Thursday, February 10, 2011, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services have been scheduled for Friday, February 11, 2011, at 4:00 p.m. at St. Ann's Catholic Church with Msgr. Larry Droll officiating.Paul was born to Payton and Mildred Duncan Chester on January 16, 1948, in San Pedro, California. He grew up in McPherson, Kansas, and attended college at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas. After serving in the Vietnam War, he entered the oil and gas pipeline transportation industry. This eventually landed Paul in Texas, and he often stated, "I might not have been born here, but I got here as fast as I could!" He met the love of his life in early 1980 and together he and his wife Vickie shared the next 31 years of love. Paul's exuberance for his children spilled over into his free time. He enthusiastically supported Ben at his baseball and football games, and Katy's softball career stretching from MUGS softball all the way through college. He was involved in Tower Little League as both a coach and president, and also coached MUGS softball. Paul enjoyed spending time at Possum Kingdom Lake with his family, friends, and his cast of characters of dogs, as well as working on his boats and jet skis.He is survived by his wife, Vickie Chester of Midland, son Ben Chester of Midland, and daughter Katy Pierce and husband Travis of Kennedale, TX, daughter Malissia Chitwood and husband Chris of Coranado, CA, and sister Linda Bleser of Toluca Lake, CA.He was preceded in death by his parents.In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Lone Star Sanctuary for Animals at 4200 N.
