Patsy Lou Holt, 87, peacefully entered her heavenly home on Friday, January 6, 2023, while surrounded by family.
Pat was born in Iraan, Texas on May 12th, 1935, to George T. and Elsie Mae (Aaron) Pogue and the oldest of three children. Pat graduated from Eastland High School and continued her education at Cisco Junior College. On May 12, 1956 (Pat’s 21st birthday), she married the love of her life, Kenneth Dean Holt, at the Daugherty Street Church of Christ in Eastland, Texas. They eventually moved from Eastland to Midland, then on to Healdton, Oklahoma, and back to Texas for stints in Snyder, San Angelo, Corpus Christi, and Bryson before returning to Midland in 1977. Pat and Ken were blessed with three children: Danny Ray, Cynthia DeAnn, and Russell Dean Holt. They were happily married for 33 years until his passing in 1990.
Pat loved the Lord and was a member of Golf Course Road Church of Christ for 46 years where she enjoyed serving and being a part of the Singles, Prime Timers, Women’s, and Deaf Ministries. She never missed an event or opportunity to serve. Pat loved a capella music and Hallal Worship. Even after the loss of her beloved Ken, Pat continued to serve and was an example of faith and strength to many.
Pat loved her family, and her family loved her! She was a wonderful mom and Memaw. No family gathering was complete without her there. Throughout the years, Pat could be found attending every school event, program, sporting event, birthday, graduation, wedding, and more to support her children, grandchildren, and even great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy; she enjoyed showering them with hugs, kisses, and candy, too.
To know Pat was to love her! She could easily be described as sweet, sassy, spunky, one-of-a-kind, and maybe even a little hardheaded at times. Pat loved big and made the people around her feel special. She never met a stranger. Pat was an animal lover and enjoyed spoiling her cats. She also loved Facebook and could often be found on her iPad scrolling through social media, connecting with old and new friends, and sharing numerous photos and funny memes. She was fiercely independent but never turned down the opportunity for a good visit or late-night trip to Whataburger. She enjoyed long visits, whether over the phone or in person, there was always time for plenty of stories and laughter, too. Pat loved to make people laugh with her quick wit, memaw-isms, and strong opinions. Not only was Pat quick to make you smile, but also quick to listen if you ever needed someone to talk to, give you advice, or pray with you.
Pat is survived by her son Danny Holt, daughter DeAnn McGraw, son-in-law Kyle McGraw, son Rusty Holt, and daughter-in-law Patty Holt all of Midland, Texas. She is also survived by grandson Devin Holt of Raleigh, North Carolina; grandson Alan McGraw and wife Jamie; grandson Michael McGraw and wife Michele; granddaughter Kenzi Barden and husband Reese; grandson Huston Holt, granddaughters Mia, Alli and Emmy Holt; and great-grandchildren Lawson, Palmer, Quinn, and Walker McGraw all of Midland, Texas.
