Patsy F. Blake, 78, of Midland passed away Monday, April 23, 2012, at Midland Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 10:00 am at Fairmont Park Church of Christ, with Scott Sheppard officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Friday evening at Nalley-Pickle and Welch Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.Pat was born July 28, 1933 in Coleman, Texas to Joe and Lila Gunn. She attended Blanket High School, where she enjoyed cheerleading, playing basketball, and hanging out with friends. On May 9, 1954, she married her best friend, James Blake of Brownwood, Texas. They celebrated 56 years of marriage at the time of James' death in 2011. They lived in Forsan, Ackerly, Seminole, New Home, and Midland Texas where James was a coach, teacher, principal, and superintendent in a 45 year career in public education. Pat worked as a secretary and teacher's aide during that time.Pat was a wonderful Christian woman who dedicated her life to honoring her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a member of the Fairmont Park Church of Christ. Pat was a friend to all and never knew a stranger. She was also a doting Nana to Jordan and Joel Blake and Mckenzi and Megan Maynard. You could always find Pat at any sporting event her grand kids were involved in, even going to college games to watch her grandchildren. Pat loved shopping, eating out, playing cards, playing dominoes, working crossword puzzles, and her new favorite was playing bingo. Most recent, Wednesday's were her favorite day of the week as she had a standing lunch date with her granddaughters, Mckenzi and Megan Maynard. She also loved to vacation with her family visiting such places as Florida, Hawaii, California, Virginia, South Carolina, and Missouri just to name a few.The family would like to thank the staff and care givers at Saddleridge Assisted Living Facility, Hospice of Midland, and the doctors and staff at Midland Memorial Hospital for their compassion and excellent care of Pat.She will be greatly missed by all who loved her. She left an indelible print on our hearts and our lives that will never be forgotten.Survivors include son Scott Blake and wife Sara of Magnolia, Texas; daughter Mitzi Maynard and husband Mark of Midland; grandsons, Jordan Blake and wife Ashley of Plano and Joel Blake and wife Kendra of the Woodlands; two granddaughters, Mckenzi and Megan Maynard of Midland.She was preceded in death by husband, James Blake, brother Bill Gun, and parents Lila and Joe Gunn.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to the building fund at Fairmont Park Church of Christ, 3813 N.
