Patricia Marie "Pat" Byrom, 78, of Plano, passed away Friday, October 30, 2009 in Midland Memorial Hospital. She was born on March 29, 1931 in Brownwood, Texas to Paul and Mondean Byrom. A graveside service will be held in Santa Anna, Texas on Monday, November 2 at 11:00 am, followed by a memorial service on Monday at 1:30 pm at the First Baptist Church in Brownwood.Pat was a graduate of Howard Payne University where she received her Bachelor of Business Administration degree. She worked for banks in Brownwood, Comanche, and was President of Olney Savings and Loan in Brownwood and later President of the bank in Rising Star, Texas. She was currently serving as Senior Collateral Specialist for Legacy Texas Bank in Plano. She cherished the friendships she enjoyed with her co-workers at Legacy Texas Bank. She was respected for a sense of professionalism reflected by her full time employment until her death at age 78. Pat will be remembered as self sufficient and independent.Her love and care of animals was a defining characterisic of her life. She provided a loving home for so many unwanted animals. She also enjoyed her family and the friendship of her co workers at Legacy Bank. In her free time she was a wonderful cook who enjoyed reading cookbooks and preparing family receipes. She was an avid collector of beautiful place settings. Pat was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Paul Frederick (Fred) Byrom. She is survived by her sister-in-law Mary Margaret Byrom of Midland; nephew Paul Byrom and his wife Sheri, of Midland, and their children Megan, Madison and Jonathan; her niece Marietta Metcalfe and her husband Albert, of Midland, and their children Kaki, Blaire, Hillary-Anne and Annie; her cousin LaRita Robinson and her husband Zane, of Dallas, and their children Laura, Lisa, Lana and Anthony. She will also be missed by her beloved dog, Pepe.The family suggests memorial donations be made to Lone Star SPCA, 4200 N Fairgrounds RD, Midland, TX 79705.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland. Pat is someone I will never forget. When my husband and I moved into the apartment next door to her, I knew I had found a friend. Our love of cooking and animals was a perfect match for neighbors. I am going to miss her bringing me soup and her wonderful homemade breads. I always made enough of whatever I was cooking to share with her and she also loved it, or at least she said she did! She is truely missed by me and my husband, Kelly. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of her family because you have lost a wonderful woman. Sincerely, Jennifer

Pat was one of a kind! I always admired her work ethic, being a single, strong business woman, especially in the environment she grew up in. She came to all our family get-togethers, brought her monkey bread, talked politics, banking, finance, stock market, latest book read, etc. You couldn't tell her what to do! She had a mind of her own.....She talked about her coworkers and others, but I am so thankful that she was so well thought of by others and had a full life outside of what we saw. She was supposed to have survived this fall, like she did everthing else in her life!!! But, guess God was ready for her. We will miss you Pat!!!! Family celebrations will not be the same.

I only knew Ms. Pat for a short time but we did have one thing in common, we both enjoyed going to the House Cafe for lunch and she really enjoyed their food and so did I, and we would always run into each other there and we would just smile and ask about the lunch choice we had made for the day and she will surely be missed. May God continue to bless her family and I will keep you in my prayers, and please remember that you have another angel watching over you all. God Bless.

Pat was always so helpful and made me laugh at times. She will be greatly missed. May GOD show the family the strength they need to make it through this difficult time.

My most sincere condolences to Pat's family and little Pepe, who she loved so much. Pat's banking knowledge made her stand out second to none and she will be missed by all of us in so many ways. Pat's healing has come, may she have ever lasting life.

Pat was such a special person inside and out. She was always, there to listen and talk to you. I remember she had began taking a sewing class, and she brought me her very first sweatshirt that had a pattern stiched on. What a remarkable person, who will deeply be missed by all. My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this difficult time.

Ms. Pat, you will truly be missed. I always loved talking with you and learning from you. You were a great mentor to have while working at the bank. May peace be with all of your family and your sweet Pepe!

I extend my condolences to Pat's family. She was a very special lady and I enjoyed our chats together. I will miss her.

I will truly miss our great conversations over the years. She and I could discuss banking and history for hours. I learned so much from her. She will always be remembered as a true inspiration to women and bankers everywhere. My heart goes out to her family and all her many friends who I know will miss her so much. It does make me smile, though, knowing she will forever more be a guardian angel to all of those who loved her so much.

I love Pat's bluntly honest, matter-of-fact approach to things. I have missed our talks about work and things in general, and we always found something to laugh about before we were through. Small as she was, she was large in our hearts.

Pat worked for me for the 2.5 years that I was at Legacy Bank. Pat and I are both from West Texas, so I really connected with her. She was such a sharp lady and such a wonderful person. We shared a love of books and animals and had some really great conversations about banking. I had dinner with her after I moved back to the area and I really enjoyed it. I will drink a Margarita in her name the next time I eat mexican food! You will be so missed Pat! I hope Pepe has found a loving home, because I know how much he meant to you!

I will miss Pat terribly. She always made me laugh. He sense of humor was entertaining. She made the best bread. Her homemade egg nog every Christmas were great. She was always very supportive of all my ventures. She always came to see my work where ever I was exhibiting. My heart aches at her passing but I will always remember the good times and the wonderful person she was.
