Patricia L. Shaw of Midland passed away on February 20, 2018 at her home. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at 10:00AM at Christ Church Midland.Pat was born on April 17, 1931 and was raised in Lubbock, TX, and was a graduate of Texas Tech receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree with a minor in music. She was proud to be a sister of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. After graduating she came to Midland where she began her teaching career at San Jacinto Jr. High. While at S.J. she wrote the San Jacinto fight song which is still sung today.Pat was a mother of three, a campfire girls leader, cheerleading coordinator, wrestling, football, baseball and ballet mom, bridge player, seamstress…teacher. She taught at Trinity School for twenty three years. While there she wrote the Trinity fight song as well. She wore many hats at Trinity, teaching many age groups and playing music in chapel. She had a knack for mathematics and there are many kids that if it weren’t for Mrs. Shaw they never would have passed that subject… you know who you are!Affectionately known as BB to her grandchildren (and great), but to countless other children as well. It was not uncommon as she shuffled place to place at Trinity to hear a child call out “hi BB”!When it came to her grandchildren she shared a special relationship with each one. She could be seen in the theatre, piano recitals, ballet performances, basketball games, hockey games, football, baseball, track and graduation. After retiring from teaching she then had the opportunity to put what she felt were God given talents and abilities to work through music ministry. Those God given talents being: serving as the instrumental leader at the 5:15 service at Holy Trinity Episcopal; music minister at St. Nicholas Episcopal and Christ Church Midland. Her faith in Christ was strong. During good times and bad it was her faith that allowed her to put one foot in front of the other. The world is a better place because of Pat Shaw. She is survived by her children, Maner Shaw and wife, Karri of Midland; Stuart Shaw and wife, Christy of Lafayette, LA; Kelly Cunningham and husband, Mike of Midland; brother-in-law, Henry Shaw Jr. and wife, Bobbie of Midland; grandchildren, Luke Shaw and wife, Abby of Midland; Tricia Seth and husband, Cody of Midland; Hank Cunningham and wife, Jaci of Midland; and Kate Madison Shaw of Midland; great grandchildren, Jake Wesley Cunningham, Cody Dewane Seth Jr; and James Henry Seth all of Midland; nieces, Candace Baker of Lubbock; Valerie Terrell of Grapevine and Shawna Blocker of Little Rock, Arkansas; and care giver, Gracie Rodriguez. She is preceded in death by Henry Shaw Sr. and Mabel B. Shaw, sister, Betty Lee Baker of Lubbock; sister-in-law, Sandra Shaw Voorhees; nephew, Anthony D. Shaw of Midland; friend, David Lewis. The family suggests memorials be made to Christ Church Midland; True-Lite Christian Fellowship or Trinity School of Midland.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
