Patricia "Patti" Abrams passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2009, in Dallas. She was born on November 26, 1932, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to O.D. and Thelma Young. She graduated from Big Spring High School and attended Howard College. Patti graduated from Texas Women's University with a Bachelor of Education, Specialty in Remedial Reading; she then went on to receive a Master of Education, graduating magna cum laude in 1981. She served for 14 years as a volunteer Docent Tour Coordinator at the Algur H. Meadows Museum of Spanish Art. She was a member of the DAR and Daughters of the Mayflower. Patti loved to travel with her husband, and they visited many countries around the world. Her family remembers her love of poetry which she would recite by memory to her grandchildren. She was a precious mother, wife, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother. She loved her family and never forgot anyone's birthday. We will miss her. Patti is survived by her husband, Dr. Raymond Abrams, of Dallas; three daughters, Debbie Rutherford and husband, Johnny of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Charla Lewis and husband, Charlie of Big Spring and Renee Wash and husband, Steve King of Kerrville; six grandchildren, Dr. Will Rutherford of Houston, Laura Denbar and husband Hal of Austin, Corporal Dustin Lewis USMC of Big Spring, Hayley Lewis of Big Spring, Blake King of Kerrville, Collyn King of Kerrville; one great grandchild, Ella Ann Denbar of Austin; one brother, David Young and wife, Jean of Burleson; two nieces, Jeanene Russell and husband, Rex, Janet Yarborough and husband, Mike; two stepsons, Jaron Abrams and wife Karen, Loryn Abrams and wife, Shelly; two step grandsons and 3 great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant son, Charles David Wash. A private family service was held on Sunday, December 27, 2009. The family requests memorial donations to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Lone Star Chapter, P.O. Box 816148, Dallas, Texas 75381.
