Ovis Donald James was born April 11, 1931 in Tahoka Texas. He passed away Sunday afternoon March 20, 2022.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-nine and a half years Doris Ilene; his children: Guy and wife Pam of Granbury and Donna Bibb and husband Steve of Big Spring. He has five grandchildren: Taylor James and wife Maggie, Kaily James, Trevor Bibb and wife Kirby, Terrell Bibb and wife Suzan and Teryn Walker and husband Isaac. He is blessed with eight great-grandchildren, Keilan and Annaliese James, Sydney, Barrett, Stella, Landry and Ryder Bibb, and Dawson Walker and one sister: Charlotte Belich and husband Bill of Ft Worth.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter D’Anne James and four brothers and two sisters.
Prior to his service in the US Army he met the love of his life. Soon after he returned from his tour in the Korean War, they were married. A true love story.
Ovis was a member and elder at the Coahoma Church of Christ. He had a deep love for the Lord and his biggest hope in life was to pass that love to his children and grandchildren. He never met a stranger and his home was always open with the more the merrier. He retired from Cosden Refinery in 1991 after 29 years of service. He enjoyed “piddling” on his small farm, livestock shows, and winning in 42, of course that was with family, church family and especially grandkids!
Honorary pallbearers are Taylor James, Trevor Bibb, Terrell Bibb and Isaac Walker.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at the Colorado City Cemetery. Memorial services will be held at 11:30 AM at the Coahoma Church of Christ following the graveside service.
