Otis L. Young, 82, of Stanton, passed on Monday, February 25, 2008, in Midland Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, February 29, 2008 at the First Baptist Church Stanton with, The Reverend Timothy Carter, grandson, pastor of Church On Fire in Dallas, Texas, officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Stanton. The family will receive friends Thursday February 28 from 6 PM to 8 PM at the Gilbreath Funeral Home in Stanton. He was born on February 9, 1926, in Eastland, Texas and married Dorothy Jean Adams in 1965 in Midland. She preceded him in death in 1997. Mr. Young lived in Stanton most of his life. He served his country as a Corporal in the United States Army during World War II. He loved to fish and enjoyed being with his friends. He was a member of Carter Chapel CME. Survivors include daughters, Jonita Young Oliver and husband, Albert of Lubbock, Patricia Ann McCalister and husband, Leo of Lubbock, Linda Ann Carter of Irving, Alice Fay Austin and husband, Larry of Midland, Evola Lowery of Midland, Shamequia Bernal and husband, George of Stanton, Helen Williams of Palestine, and Willie Mae Young of Dallas; three sisters, Winnet Brown of Stanton, Mary Tippins of Midland and Emma Sue Green of Denver, Colorado; one brother, David "Bubba" Young of Big Spring; 24 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by two sons, Otis Joe Young and Marvin P. Clewis. Arrangements under the direction of Gilbreath Funeral Home of Stanton.
