To the family of Wendell Dean, I met Wendell and Jean through our membership at Crestview Baptist Church. I can remember when they showed up because back in that time there weren't many vehicles in Midland with a Wyoming license plate. Both possessed warm and engaging personalities and they quickly melted into our church's fellowship. I will always fondly recall the banter between Wendell and I over the Red River Rivalry. To me, he was "Okie" and I was "Teasip" to him. He loved his Sooners and made it a point to remind me personally if they had been victorious over Texas; however, Wendell was quick to exit or change the subject if his Sooners weren't so fortunate. I look forward to that day when we can resume that banter between us... Phil Miller Carthage, Tx

I had the privilege of being in Sunday School with Wendell. Like everyone who knew him, I loved Wendell. He would greet you with a smile and hand shake and “How ya doing?” After catching up followed by “Good to see ya!” You could see the love for his family when he talked about them. I loved to listen to Wendell pray. His big powerful voice talking to God about the concerns of his heart. Praying for comfort and peace for his family in the coming days. Amanda Davis

My deepest condolences on the loss of one of the most kind, caring, generous, loving persons I have ever had the privilege to know. Above all, Wendell was a devoted and beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. In his spare time, he was also a champion story-teller, card shark, handy-man and pie-maker! As much as he will be missed, I know how deeply he missed his Jean and how happy their reunion must be. He will be remembered with love, joy and gratitude and as an example of how to live a life that mattered. Peace and love to all!
Etta (Skinner) Granville left a message on June 16, 2023:
The Skinner family first met the Dean Family in Moab Utah. Wendell was our dads boss and we also attended the same churches. We also lived in Vernal, Utah and Gilette, WY at the same time as they did. We kept in touch thru letters, cards, e-mails and phone calls since the 1960s. He loved my divinity and always wanted me to make and send it to him. Wendell will be greatly missed. Wishing you peace and comfort during this time of loss and sorrow. The Skinner Kids: Etta, Kenny, Janet and Kelly.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.
