Oliver Henry "O. H." Thomas, 91, of Seminole, formerly of Big Spring, died on Saturday, April 3, 2004, in a Seminole nursing home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 6, 2004 at the Nalley-Pickle and Welch Rosewood Chapel with Rev. Dudley Mullins, pastor First Baptist Church of Kermit, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park. He was born on October 18, 1912, in Burnett County, Texas and married Mary Helen DeVaney on December 23, 1932.O.H. was a farmer and never lost his love for tending to the soil. He loved to plant and harvest produce and seeing things grow. He always had a garden and after retiring from Cosden, it became a driving force in his life. He goal was to grow better produce with higher yields to supply his family and neighbors with food. He did this until the summer before his ninetieth birthday, when due to ill health, he elected to plant his garden. O. H. was a simple man, with a love for his family and work. He loved to visit with neighbors, friends and family about past experiences. He was a member of East Fourth Street Baptist Church.Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Kathy Thomas of Bastrop; two daughters and a son-in-law, Lavada and Emmett Mills of Denver City and Kathy Mayfield of College Station; seven grandsons, Clay Mayfield of Corona, California, Coy Mayfield of Abilene, Kirk Mayfield of Tikrit, Iraq, Steve Mills of Minnetonka, Minnesota, Joshua Thomas of Bastrop, Jason Thomas of Houston and Scotty Thomas of Alabama two granddaughters, Suzanne McMahan of Midland and Chelsey Thomas of Bastop; eight great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by by his parents, Oliver Henry and Ida Thomas; five brothers, David, Charles, Elmer, Hubert and Vinson; four sisters, Julia, Cora, Olga and Billie; one great grandson.The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association, 3205 W.
