Norman \Bill\ Wallace, 95, of Big Spring, died Sunday, April 28, 2013, in a local nursing home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Derrick Looney, officiating. Interment will follow at Ackerly Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.He was born April 28, 1918, in Jacksonville, Texas and moved to Sylvester as a child where he grew up. The family then moved to Pumpkin Center, Texas north of Lamesa where they lived until 1940 when they moved to Ackerly. He farmed in Ackerly until his retirement. While in high school, he played football and basketball, ran track and was on the FFA National Dairy Judging team. He received a scholarship at Texas A&M for football, but due to his father's health he had to stay home and help run the farm. Norman served on the Ackerly School Board; volunteered at the Big Spring State Hospital Chalet for many years and was very active in American Agricultural movement in 1979 to 1980.He loved traveling, fishing and camping with his wife and children.Survivors include one daughter, Mary Ann Talbott and husband, David of Big Spring; one son, Phil Wallace and wife, Barbara of Lubbock; eleven grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Glenda Fay Wallace; one daughter, Brenda Davis and his parents, Thomas Lee and Vinnie Wallace.
