Norma Grace Pyle, 82, of Midland, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 21, 2014. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Golf Course Road Church of Christ. The funeral will be officiated by grandson, Cason Pyle and brother, John Gibbs. Song leading will be by grandson, Caleb Hall.Norma Pyle was born October 11, 1932 in Borden, Indiana to Leda Catherine Kranz and Gilbert Franklin (G.F.) Gibbs. The family moved to Lawrenceburg, Tennessee when Norma was very young. Norma graduated from Lawrence Co. H.S. in 1949. She later moved to Nashville where she met Donald John Pyle, who was from Midland, TX. He was in Nashville in the Air Force, and they met at the local skating rink one night.Don and Norma were married on January 23, 1954 in Nashville, Tennessee and settled in Midland, Texas in November that same year. They had five children, all born in Midland. Norma was a faithful Christian, and she took her love of the Lord with her in whatever she did, teaching children’s Bible classes for many years and serving as a good influence to those around her. Norma worked for Great Western Drilling Company as a key punch operator for a short time after moving to Midland, but her greatest joy was taking care of her home. She was the best cook ever, and she loved cooking every day for her family. She also loved playing bridge, scrapbooking, picture framing, and collecting clocks, rocks, seashells, glass figures, and other beautiful things. She took up golf in her fifties and played many rounds of golf. She loved traveling, and some of her trips included Hawaii, Germany, the Caribbean and Canada. One of Norma’s favorite songs was “You Are My Sunshine.”Norma is survived by her husband, Donald J. Pyle from Midland, TX; son, Gerald Keith Pyle and Jim LeVally of Columbus, OH; son, Gilbert Roy Pyle and Veronica of Midland, TX; daughter, Donna Catherine Hall and Charles of Bangs, TX; son, Thomas Gibbs Pyle of Texarkana, TX; daughter, Patti Mae Isom and Jerry of Greenville, TX; brother, John and Sue Gibbs of Lawrenceburg, TN; and sister, Mary Duke of Franklin, TN.Norma had fourteen grandchildren: grandson, Cason and Ashley Pyle of Abilene, TX; granddaughter, Kallie (her “favorite granddaughter”) and Gerry Ray of Georgetown, TX; granddaughters, Peyton Pyle and Madison Pyle and grandson, Noah Pyle of Midland, TX; grandson, Caleb and Cattie Hall of San Marcos, TX; granddaughter, Anna Grace and Victor Arreola of San Angelo, TX; granddaughter, Abigail Hall of San Angelo, TX; grandsons, Thomas, Andrew, Daniel, and Benjamin Pyle of Midland, TX; and grandsons, Jacob and Bailey Isom of Greenville, TX. Norma also has three great-grandchildren: Tesla, Emery, and Piper. Norma had many beloved nieces and nephews, including Betty Glover who helped care for her in the end. Norma is preceded in death by a dear daughter-in-law, Sabrina Pyle; parents, G.F. and Leda Gibbs; sister, Gilberta Bail; and sister, Aleda Mae Mitchell.Memorial donations can be made to Boles Children’s Home, 7065 Love, Quinlan, TX 75474.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
