Norma "Mimi" Olene Mays McFarland, 85, of Midland, Texas, passed away on February 1, 2007. She was born April 18, 1921 in Fort Worth, Texas, to Clyde W. and Ella Olene Bludworth Mays. She attended Arlington Heights High School in Fort Worth and Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. She married Keith Franklin Pumphrey, Jr. on January 17, 1942 in Fort Worth, Texas and had one daughter, Lucile Olene Woodside. She lost her beloved Keith after an illness in 1948. She later married Donald Jacob "Posey" McFarland on January 1, 1950 in Orlando, Florida. They had three daughters, Norma Lynn Wynn, Dona Louise Hughston and Isobel Mays Barden. The family resided in Fort Worth until moving to Midland in 1960 where she was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Rake and Spade Garden Club, the MRS Investment Club and was President of the Minuet Club in 1970. After 25 wonderful and happy years, she lost the second love of her life, "Posey" on February 3, 1975. She was a loving wife, gracious homemaker, and devoted mother to her four daughters. She loved to travel, have lunch with her friends, attend her grandchildren's soccer games and she adored her 9 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The family wants to extend our heartfelt appreciation to Rosa Cabello, who so lovingly helped the family care for her during her last days. We would also like to thank the caring staff of Hospice of Midland, the Allison Cancer Center and everyone at Dr. Paul Best's office.Norma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Keith Franklin Pumphrey, Jr. and her husband Donald Jacob McFarland, and her daughter Norma Lynn Wynn. Norma is survived by three daughters, Lucy Woodside and her husband John A. Woodside of Midland, Texas, Louise Hughston and her husband Thomas W. "Woody" Hughston of Centreville, Virginia, and Isobel Barden of Midland, Texas. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, Elizabeth Woodside Stout and her husband Jeff of Frisco, TX, Thomas James Woodside and his wife Kelli of Norfolk, VA, Forrest Jacob Wynn of Houston, TX, Taylor Mays Wynn and his wife Jena of Houston, TX, Holly Hughston Taylor and her husband Mark of Burke, VA, Kellie Louise Hughston of Centreville, VA, Micheal Shane Barden and his wife Kellie of Jackson, MS, Corey Chad Barden and his wife Jessica of Midland, TX, Tiffany Barden Garza and her husband John of Lewisville, TX, and four great-grandchildren, Micheal Reese Barden, Samuel Bass Barden, Christopher McFarland "Mac" Barden and Jackson Spencer Stout.Internment will be at Resthaven Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her five grandsons. A memorial service will be held on (day, date, time) in the Glass Chapel at the First United Methodist Church in Midland, Texas.
