Our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Nona Faye (Campbell) Brunson, age 88, of Big Spring passed away Sunday, May 30, 2022, after a lengthy illness. Graveside rites will be held at 1pm, Friday, June 3, 2022 at The Peace Chapel, Trinity Memorial Park in Big Spring. The family will receive friends and loved ones on Thursday, June 2, 2022 from 6pm to 8pm at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.
Nona was born on January 6, 1934, in Big Spring, to Mabel Inez and Charles Maddox Campbell. She was united in marriage on November 14, 1952, to Belton (B.A) Brunson in Big Spring.
She worked for Webb Air Force Base in Big Spring for over twenty-six years as secretary to the Chief of Field Maintenance. Nona also worked for Harris Lumber and Hardware and the VA Hospital. She loved the Lord Almighty and lived for her family. Hobbies included sewing, crochet and working her flower gardens.
Nona is survived by a son, Daryl Brunson of Big Spring, daughters, Karen Hays of Big Spring and Carol Curry Burnham of Odessa, daughters-in-law, Karen Faye Brunson of Lyndale and Robbie Brunson of Fort Worth, grandson Jeremy Brunson of Fort Worth, granddaughter Alicia Alaniz and husband Tony Alaniz and son Aiden Alaniz of Fort Worth, grandson Jonathan Hays, wife LeAnne Hays, and two sons, Grayson and Christian Hays, grandson Christopher Freeman, wife Marie Freeman and sons, Trenton Freeman and CB Patterson of Odessa, grandson Michael Freeman and Tiffany Christian and children Scarlett Freeman, Brodie Lakey and Lexie Crum of Odessa, granddaughter Carlee Freeman and Christian Savell and daughter Courtney Savell as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Denise Brunson, sons Karl Brunson and Curtis Brunson, granddaughter Jennifer Hays, brothers Charles Campbell, Russell Campbell, Wendell Campbell, Irvis Campbell, Bobby Campbell, Felix Campbell and sister Estelle Steveson.
The family suggests memorials to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
