Nelda Ruth Turner, 63, of Stanton, died on Sunday, April 21, 2002 at her residence. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, April 24, 2002, at the First Baptist Church of Stanton, with Rev. David Harp, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. She was born on June 30, 1938 in Draw, Texas and married Wade Turner on January 11, 1957 in Andrews, Texas. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Stanton. Nelda served as nursery coordinator, Sunday School teacher and G.A. counselor at the church. She was the Financial Director for the City of Stanton for many years retiring on June 30, 2000. She was a member of the Martin County Museum Board, the Convent Board and Order of the Eastern Star, where she had served as Worthy Matron. She loved gardening, antiques, touring old southern plantation homes and her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Wade Turner of Stanton; one daughter and son-in-law, Terri and David Anderson of Stanton; one son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Rhonda Turner of Stanton; her father, James Terrell Carlisle of Lovington, New Mexico; two brothers, Jerry Carlisle and Ernest Carlisle both of Lovington, New Mexico; one sister, Patty McPherson of Andrews; six grandchildren, Blake, Chase and Nathan Anderson and Melody, Taylor and Olivia Turner all of Stanton. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lois Carlisle in March of 1990.
