Neil Steven McMorries

Neil Steven McMorries, 76 of Tarzan, passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2026. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at Evergreen Cemetery Chapel in Stanton.

Neil was born on December 5, 1949 in Stanton, Texas to Melton and Doris McMorries. Neil was a lifelong farmer and rancher who dedicated his life to working the land in Martin County. He took exceptional pride in his endeavors and was known for his strong work ethic, perseverance, and deep respect for the farming way of life. He was also a natural deal maker, respected for his ability to negotiate, connect with people, and find common ground. He had a unique charm and sense of humor that left a lasting impression on those around him. Through long days and ever-changing weather seasons, Neil remained steady, constantly pushing to provide for his family so they could one day share in his dream of farming.

Outside of farming, Neil found his greatest joy in his family. Watching his grandchildren grow up was the exclamation point of his life. Those moments meant the world to him.

Neil is survived by his brother, Don McMorries and wife Brenda; his sons, Coby McMorries and wife Vickie, and Kyle McMorries; his grandchildren, Nayce McMorries and Callaway McMorries; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Melton and Doris McMorries; and his sister, Cherylene McMorries.
