Neal McCaskill

Neal McCaskill, 94, of Midland, passed away Sunday, September 2, 2012. A gathering of family and friends will be from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm, Friday, September 7, 2012 at his daughter Jane's house, 1609 North I St, in Midland. Neal was born May 7, 1918 in Lubbock to Ora and Fred McCaskill. He married Melba Clendennen on February 11, 1950. She preceded Neal in death on October 2, 2011.Neal graduated from Texas Tech University as a petroleum engineer. He was a founder of My Community Federal Credit Union in Midland. Also he was instrumental in starting the YMCA in Midland. He was a volunteer for Parks & Recreation, a tutor for MISD schools and a Sunday school teacher. Neal was a Boy Scout leader, helping many boys earn their Eagle Scout status. He was an avid bird watcher. Neal and Melba became world travelers.Survivors include daughter, Jane Cappadonna and husband John of Midland; daughter, Laura (Lolly) Jurado and husband Daniel of Greeley, CO; daughter Lindy Lawson of Greenwoood, IN; daughter-in-law, Mary Alice McCaskill of Seguin, TX; grandchildren, Michael, Tony, Alex, Jennifer, Chris, Tony and Catie; 14 great grandchildren; and sister, Freda Bates and husband Jack.He was also preceded in death by his son, Michael McCaskill, and his brothers, Joe Bill and Fred (Top).Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
