Nathan Brock, 81, of Big Spring, Texas, died on Thursday, August 7, 2003, in a local hospital. Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, August 11, 2003 at the Westbrook Cemetery with Rev. R. T. Havener, pastor of First Assembly of God Church, officiating. He was born on October 26, 1921, in Lingleville, Texas. Nathan was a lifelong resident of Big Spring and the surrounding area. He served in the United States Army, training as a combat engineer at Fort Leonardwood, Missouri. He served in Italy, Sicily and North Africa during World War II and was attached to the 5th Army under General Mart Clark. He worked as a driller for Todd Aaron Oil Company in Midland and also for Duncan Drilling Company in Big Spring for many years. Nathan loved to travel and enjoyed the time he lived at Canterbury. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church. Survivors include one sister, Neva Hunt of Big Spring; one niece, Mary Bradberry of Big Spring; two great-nieces and two great-great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Mattie Hare Brock; one sister, Era Brock on October 16, 1991 and two brothers, Floyd Brock in 1989 and Carl L. Brock on June 15, 1991. The family will receive friends from 3 PM to 5 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
