Nancy J. Burke, 80, of Midland, passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2005, at the Hospice Inpatient Unit at Midland Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 9:00 AM Saturday, September 10, 2005 at the St. Luke's United Methodist Church Midland with Rev. Larry Bailey , officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland. A visitation will be held on Friday, September 9, 2005 from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home, 3800 N. Big Spring St. in Midland.She was born on February 18, 1925, in Dallas, Texas and married Frank Burke on September 1, 1949 in the "Little Chapel In the Woods" on the campus of TWU. She was one of the original Head Start teachers when it was a volunteer organization. Nancy was a Cub Scout leader and active in the Girl Scouts and was an excellent cook. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and family was her first priority. Survivors include her husband, Frank Burke of Midland; son, Les Burke and wife Caryl of Midland; daughter, Jan Hershberger and husband Lee of Midland; sister, Mitsy Blakeley of Lubbock; three brothers, Joe L. Blair of Annandale, Virginia; Carrell Blair of New Orleans, Louisiana; J.D. Blair of Boerne; four grandchildren, Kathryn Burke, Kevin Burke, Bonnie Miller, Allison Miller and Oscar Marquez,; one great granddaughter, Madison Olivia-Blair Marquez; two nephews, Gary Burke and wife Lee Ann of Mansfield; Stephen Burke and wife Mandy of Jacksonville, Florida; sister-in-law, Nita Blair of Opelousas, Louisiana; brother-in-law, Grady Bennett of Edinburg; and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by a brother, Tom C. Blair, and a sister, Margaret Bennett, and one great grandson, Mason Jordon Marquez.The family suggests memorials be made to: Hospice of Midland, P.O.
