Myrtle Adeline Baughn Sanford passed away peacefully at her home in Midland, Texas on December 31, 2016. She will be available for viewing at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland from 1:00 pm – 9:00 pm Sunday, January 3, 2016 and from 8:00 am – 9:00 pm Monday, January 4, 2016. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm MST Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at Prairie Haven Memorial Park in Hobbs, New Mexico.She was born in Powderly, Texas on December 6, 1918 to Edward and Bulah (Big Mama) Locke. She was a strong woman who kept her sharp wit, fun spirit and deep love for all of her family members throughout her life of 97 years. She was passionate about cooking, enjoyed people gatherings, LOVED to dance and made life-long friends throughout her whole life.Myrtle and her first husband Ted Baughn Sr., left El Paso, Texas in 1947 and moved to Hobbs, New Mexico where they opened “The Trolley Café.” They very much enjoyed running the business, providing great home cooked meals and good old fashion conversation with new customers who became very good friends! Sadly in 1956 her husband Ted Sr. passed away unexpectedly. With passion, she kept the “Trolley Café” going with her young children by her side.In 1962 she sold the Trolley Cafe to begin a new life as a housewife (Domestic Goddess) when she married WC Sandy Sanford. She assisted Sandy with everything from work to play. They enjoyed traveling across the country to visit his family in Michigan whenever possible, together in love until his passing on January 1, 2005.Preceding her in death were her parents and her husbands; sisters, Mary and her husband, Lloyd (Squirley) Chamblin and Bulah-May and Tommy Black; daughter, Kay Hakata Hudnall; daughter in law, Leta Whitlock Baughn; nephews, Bobby Chamblin, Pee Wee Black and also many wonderful aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews in the extended family.Mourning in Love & Celebration are those surviving her: son, Ted R. Baughn of Midland Texas; grandchildren, Dan Hakata of Las Vegas, Nevada, Jill Hakata Broughten, Rhonda Baughn, RaMona Spears Baughn, and Charlye Parker all of Midland, Texas. Great grandchildren, Cyndi Fraiser, Heather Crisler, six great great grandchildren.As Myrtle taught us and would remind us on this day: Love yourself, your family, friends and acquaintances!
