Etha Mona Taylor, 89, of Midland, Tx. woke up in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ March 12, 2015. A visitation with the family will be held 6:00 – 8:00 pm Sunday, March 15, 2015 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday March 16, 2015 at First Baptist Church in the Chapel. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Mona was born May 9, 1925 to W.B. & Edna West in Stamford, TX. She was married February 10, 1943 to Dallas Aubrey Taylor who was actively enlisted in the army. They had two daughters, the lights of her life, Toni Lee and Dallas Ann. The focus of her life was first and foremost her family. Financial difficulties left Dallas traveling a lot which honed her into the fierce, independent matriarch that we all knew and loved so dearly. After the marriage of her daughters, she and Dallas purchased a home in 1973 in Midland where she lived until the last two years when she required full time medical care. After many years working for UniCal76, she retired in the mid-80s. Not one to be idle, she soon started babysitting for several families. To these families, she quickly became known as “Miss Mona,” an extension of their families. In essence she spent the majority of her golden years always taking care of family and those she was close to. Her need of provision made her very adept at sewing; she could make or sew almost anything! She made numerous personal friends through the many years she sold Stanley Products as well as Avon. She was always “there for you” caring and loving in every way needed. Her home was always open to family and she invariably hosted everything from birthday parties to holiday events and even Amway parties for her grandson. To say she was tidy would be an understatement, and opinionated was just her way. The wisdom she passed on would even make Dave Ramsey very proud. Mona is preceded in death by her husband, Dallas Taylor, daughters, Toni Lee Locke and Dallas Ann Yarbrough as well as her other 12 siblings and numerous friends. She is survived by her grandchildren Brad Lindsey and his wife Melanie of Midland Tx., Steve Shepheard and his wife Robyn of Ft. Worth Tx., Stan Shepheard and his wife Stephanie of Spring Tx., Samantha Gober and her husband Brad of Winnsboro Tx., Shelby Stevens and her husband J.D. of Keller Tx., as well as 20 great grand children and 9 great, great grand children. Mona’s family would like to express thanks to the staff and caretakers at Parks Methodist Retirement Village who took such good care of her in her time of greatest physical need. ,
