Sweatpants, tennis shoes, and funny pranks combined with an infectious smile are just a few of the memorable aspects of Mitchel. Mitchel Roy Hunnicutt passed away on November 9th, 2024, at the age of 70. He has battled serious medical issues in recent years and showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Mitchel was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His journey on earth was one marked by love, compassion, and an unwavering faith in God. His passing has left a void in the hearts of family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him. We ask that you remember him not for the way his life ended, but for the way it was lived, and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Mitchel was born in Bakersfield, California to his parents, William Roy and Zula Modell Hunnicutt. He was the eldest of three children and loved the task of being the protector. He grew up in Denver City, TX where he met the love of his life, Pam, while attending High School. It was love at first sight, and she has supported him through every step of the way. After dating for 5 years, they married on January 4th, 1974, and together they had two children: Kim and Brandon. Some of his greatest joy came from his children. They created many memories while enjoying sports, hunting, stock shows, and many lake trips with family and friends.
He took an active role in the lives of his grandchildren from teaching them how to drive, fish, hunt, and constantly traveling all over to watch them in every sporting event. Outside of spending time with his grandchildren, Mitchel enjoyed traveling and camping with all his friends and family. The unforgettable trips over the years like lake trips, camping in the mountains, Hawaii, New York, Las Vegas, and Branson held a special place in his heart.
Mitchel has worked in the oil industry for many years. He learned to weld at a young age with his father, Roy, and began to pick up this hobby. Some of his fondest memories with his father always involved fishing or hunting. Many hours setting trot lines and catching large catfish in the channel.
Mitchel was proceeded in death by his mother Zula Modell Hunnicutt, and his son Brandon Lee Hunnicutt, and his mother-in-law Patsy Joyce Welcher. He is survived by his loving wife Pam, his daughter Kim and JD Cramer, his 4 grandchildren Makenzie and Sutton Schwertner, Cade Cramer, Blaze and Haylee Hunnicutt. He is also survived by his father William Roy Hunnicutt, his siblings Mitzi and Randy Welch, Jimmy Hunnicutt, and his many other beloved extended family members.
Those of you who knew Mitchel will remember him for his infectious smile and overwhelming laughter, his unwavering commitment to spreading love and kindness. He had a rare gift of making others smile and laugh, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed his path.
